Welcome to Forest School

In September 2017, we welcomed a new Forest school Leader to our team, Sonja Seaton is a Level 3 trained instructor and works with all our children each week.

Forest school is an important aspect of our school learning and it supports other areas of the curriculum. For example,  the Science based curriculum is very well catered for by learning in the outdoor environment. Our pond is a valuable resource, with life cycle studies, information retrieval from charts/books/ICT and of course water safety.

Forest school is a powerful tool for developing pupil’s self-esteem and confidence, giving children the  opportunity to ‘lead’ activities and strengthen their team work and cooperation skills. Learning in the outdoor classroom boosts children’s awareness of self and others, enabling them to transfer skills back into their other classroom based activities.
